Welcome to the Lebanese Biodiversity Information Platform (LBIP)

A total of 4 species recorded to date

About the project

LBIP is a peer-reviewed citizen-science project launched in 2026 after more than a year of careful offline preparation.

The objective of this initiative is to document the biodiversity of Lebanon and build an open-access database of the Lebanese fauna, flora and funga, but also the rich fossil record. By making this information freely available, we aim to support scientific research, education, and conservation efforts.

Through this project and other future activities, we are working on raising awareness and promoting appreciation for our natural heritage.

How to contribute

Everyone is welcome to contribute to the project. We invite experts, researchers, photographers, and nature enthusiasts to join our collective effort.
  • If you want to contribute by writing articles and sharing photos, you are invited to create an account.
You can also send your unidentified photos to the relevant volunteer experts who will gladly help you identify the species.
  • If you noticed inaccuracies about a species, please report the details of the error, along with links to the references you consulted so we can keep the database reliable.
